PRINCE Harry will visit British troops amid plans for war games aimed at repelling a Russian invasion, it was reported last night.

More than 1,000 commandos will be in Norway in upcoming weeks to practise a counter-attack against Vladimir Putin’s forces.

Harry, an ex-Army captain and now Captain General of the Royal Marines, is set for an “immersive experience”, said the Daily Mirror.

The Royal Marines’ new role as the lead of Britain’s Joint Expeditionary Force means they will be on the front line of any potential clashes with Russia.

Putin has issued a chilling warning about the looming threat of a nuclear war, saying it could “lead to the destruction of civilisation as a whole and maybe even our planet”.

Harry, who saw active combat in Afghanistan, where he worked closely with Marines from 40 Commando, is expected to have a front row seat in Norway, but he will not be in uniform.

It will be the biggest Arctic military exercise by the Royal Marines in 20 years.

Tensions between Russia and the West have been stretched to breaking point with Moscow linked killings in the UK and Cold War levels of submarine activity.

Novichok attacks on ex KGB spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury have left relations on the brink.

There was also the recent arrest in Moscow of of alleged spy Paul Whelan.

Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt accused the Kremlin of using the former Marine - a dual UK-US citizen - as a pawn in a “diplomatic chess game”.
