Polish President Andrzej Duda decided to sign an updated law on the National Memory Institute, imposing penalties for using the wording "Polish death camps" and disseminating other facts about the participation of the Polish nation in the Holocaust, which the authorities of the republic consider untrue. The corresponding statement of the head of state was broadcast on Tuesday by Polish television.

"Given the need to protect the good name of Poland and the Poles, <...> I decided to sign this update law," - said Duda. At the same time, he announced his intention to simultaneously exercise his right to check new standards for compliance with the constitution.

"I decided to sign the law, but I also decided to send it to the Constitutional Court to verify its constitutionality," the head of state said.
