A SUSPECTED car thief’s plans to escape police by running away through a field has been foiled by a herd of seemingly civic-minded cows keen to get in on the action.

In an hilarious turn of events, about 20 cows on a farm in Florida join in the night-time chase helping police on the ground pinpoint her location.

As officers from Seminole County watched from the air with night vision cameras, the woman crashed the car and fled the scene, leaving behind a passenger.

As she makes a run for it across the field, her every moo-vement is closely followed by the cows and she is soon ‘udder’ arrest (sorry!) thanks to the crime-fighting bovine.

“A large group of cows is following her for a good visual," the helicopter pilot tells the officers on the ground.

"Looks like they may attack her.”

“If you see the large group of cows, they're literally following her and chasing her."
