KYIV, 21 July - RIA Novosti. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the law on ratification of the agreement with the Netherlands on international legal cooperation, which will entitle the Dutch side to hold a court in the case of the crash of the Malaysian Boeing 777 MN17 flight in Donbas in 2014, the presidential press service said on Saturday.

The agreement in July 2017 was signed by the Minister of Justice of Ukraine Pavel Petrenko and the Minister of Security and Justice of the Netherlands Stef Bloch. According to the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, "the signed document provides that the Netherlands has the competence to prosecute persons for crimes" related to the crash of the MN17 aircraft. The document also establishes that prosecution of suspects will occur in a Dutch court, most likely in The Hague. Also, the agreement allows for a court hearing in the videoconference mode. Those who can not be extradited to the Netherlands will serve a prison term in Ukraine. The Parliament of Ukraine ratified it on July 12, adopting the corresponding law.

According to the press service, the ratification ensures cooperation between the competent authorities of both states, determines the procedure and specifics of the implementation of certain procedural actions within the framework of the agreement with a view to effecting effective criminal prosecution and conviction of persons involved in the aircraft's catastrophe within the judicial system of the Netherlands. In particular, the transfer of Ukraine to the Netherlands criminal case, the implementation of the request of the competent authority of the Netherlands to ensure the participation of a person as an accused in judicial proceedings in the territory of the kingdom in videoconference mode.

Malaysian Boeing 777, flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, crashed on July 17, 2014 near Donetsk. Onboard there were 298 persons, all of them were lost. Kiev accused the militia of a catastrophe, they said they did not have the means to allow the aircraft to be knocked down at such an altitude.
