MOSCOW, July 1 - RIA Novosti. Petro Poroshenko said that the Ukrainian flag will be raised in Sevastopol. Such a "promise" the politician gave as part of the congratulation of the Navy personnel on a professional holiday.

"I believe that together we will revive and multiply the sea glory of Ukraine, and the State Flag on our ships will again be raised in the bays of Ukrainian Sevastopol," Poroshenko wrote on his Facebook page, wishing the military "determination and perseverance."

Poroshenko repeatedly spoke with loud statements about the "return" of the Crimea. So, in the beginning of June, congratulating the inhabitants of Sevastopol on the City Day, he also promised that the Ukrainian flag would be raised in the city.

Then many subscribers of the Ukrainian president laughed at the post, and one of the users urged him to come to Sevastopol, talk with the local residents and make sure that the Crimea "was, is and will be Russian."

Crimea joined the Russian Federation in March 2014 following the results of a referendum held after a coup in Kiev. For reunification with Russia, 96.77% of the voters of the Republic of Crimea voted and 95.6% of the residents of Sevastopol.

Moscow repeatedly noted that the referendum was held in accordance with the norms of international law and the UN Charter.
