"Naftogaz" responded to the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin about the readiness to preserve the transit of gas. But it's too early to celebrate the victory of Kiev, political scientist Andrei Suzdaltsev said. He shared his opinion on the radio Sputnik.

The dispute between Gazprom and Naftogaz has already been settled by the Stockholm Arbitrage, Commercial Director of the Ukrainian company Yury Vitrenko said, commenting on the statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin on Moscow's readiness to extend the transit gas contract with Kiev in case of settlement of relations between the companies.

According to Vitrenko, the problem is allegedly only in the refusal of Gazprom to comply with the decision of the Stockholm Arbitration for the supply of gas to Ukraine and the unwillingness to pay compensation of 2.6 billion dollars. At the same time, Naftogaz, as the top manager said, agrees to settle a new dispute regarding the revision of rates for gas transit. If it comes to a new arbitration, the disagreements, he said, will be settled no earlier than the end of 2020. "Are Gazprom and Germany ready to stop the construction of Nord Stream -2 before the end of the new arbitration?" - added Vitrenko.

Earlier, Vladimir Putin, at a press conference with US President Donald Trump in Helsinki, said that Russia was ready to extend the transit gas contract with Ukraine in case of settling the dispute of the companies in the Stockholm court.

Political scientist (Higher School of Economics) Andrey Suzdaltsev on air radio Sputnik expressed the opinion that in Kiev they hurried with conclusions.

"Vladimir Putin has already said that Gazprom will most likely use Ukraine's gas transportation system, but at the meeting there was a specific observation that this is possible only if all the legal proceedings initiated by Kiev are terminated. , these are the conditions for entering into a dialogue, but here is the question of volumes and tariffs: in fact, this is an entry into a long negotiating process, and then provided that Kiev stops defaming Gazprom with endless lawsuits. we will be forced to transit if one of the partners is constantly being sued by lawsuits, so, as always, Kiev hurried in. I think they are already celebrating the victory there, "said Andrey Suzdaltsev.

Naftogaz in early July filed a lawsuit against Gazprom in a court in Stockholm with a demand to review tariffs for gas transit from March 2018, demanding $ 11.58 billion from the Russian company. Vitrenko said at the same time that the amount of claims could be reduced if the Russian company booked transit capacities after 2019 "and / or if it stops blocking the transit of gas from Central Asia and the export of other companies from Russia."

Previously, Naftogaz has already sought in Stockholm to revise the tariff for transit, starting in 2010. The Tribunal did not satisfy these claims. In another dispute over contracts for the supply and transit of blue fuel, Gazprom has to pay 2.56 billion to the Ukrainian company. The Russian concern appealed this decision and announced the termination of contracts with Naftogaz.

On June 13, Gazprom secured a suspension of the enforcement of the Stockholm arbitration award in the Court of Appeal of the Swedish district of Svea. "Naftogaz" tried to cancel this verdict, but the court found his arguments unconvincing.
