Police hunt killer after man in 40s is left dead on Brisbane road
A MAN found stabbed to death on a Brisbane road has been identified as local Nathan Frazer.
QLD Police has today issued an appeal for more information in relation to the 41-year-old’s “suspicious death”.
A young woman made the gruesome discovery Thursday morning when she stumbled across Mr Frazer’s dead body, full of stab wounds, on Blyth Rd at Murrumba Downs, north of Brisbane.
The distressed 19-year-old called police about 5.45am and reported a man lying in the middle of the road with “significant injuries” including stab wounds to his head and chest.
His body was reportedly found between the back fence of a 7-Eleven convenience store and a row of houses on the opposite side of the dead-end street. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The woman was not injured in the incident but was “extremely distressed” and taken to the local police station.
Police are now hunting the killer who they believe could be known to the victim.
“Investigations to date have established that 39-year-old man Lee Hillier may be able to assist police with their inquiries,” a statement released today by QLD Police read.
“Police have launched Operation Quebec Amadeus and an investigation centre with local detectives being assisted by the Homicide Squad has been established at Petrie Police Station.”
It is unclear whether the woman knew the victim but residents in the area reported hearing her screaming earlier Thursday morning.
“We are still trying to find out exactly what’s happened but I can say that we believe another party was involved,” Inspector Steve Flori said at the scene.
“There is some disparity between their ages, so whether they are friends … whether they were just together is still a mystery.
“We’ve taken her back to the police station to try and calm her down and find out exactly what happened.
“What happened we don’t know with certainty. What we are certain of is that she’s not responsible for what’s happened to him.”
Inspector Flori said the victim was from the greater Brisbane area, and didn’t live where the crime happened.
Police are reviewing security footage from the 7-Eleven and doorknocking properties in the area.
Emily Nott, who lives in the Complex behind where the body was found, told The Courier Mail she went to the street to investigate after hearing a woman’s screams.
“I saw the body, the tarp and lots of police and a crying lady. She was really distraught and I couldn’t even imagine what she’s going through,” she said.
Ms Nott said she didn’t recognise the woman.
