A TEENAGE boy has been charged after a 93-year-old woman was attacked at a Manchester bus stop.

The 17-year-old cannot be named for legal reasons after he handed himself in to police last night.

In an alleged attempted robbery the woman was dragged to the floor as she refused to give up her bag.

She banged her head and was left with multiple injuries to her head, knees and hands in the brutal attack.

The elderly lady was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been discharged.

The teen charged in connection with the incident at 11.55am on Thursday at a bus stop in Turf Lane, Chadderton, Oldham.

The boy will appear at Tameside Youth Court on September 4.

Police were looking for two men yesterday after the attempted robbery.

DS Wilkinson said police were following a number of lines of inquiry to find the offenders and had appealed for help finding them.

Anyone in the area at the time was urged to contact police, while motorists passing through were asked to provide any dash cam footage.
