A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a boxer was gunned down at a pub.

Tom Bell, 21, died in hospital after being shot through a window at Doncaster’s Maple Tree while at the busy pub with pals.

Drinkers fled into the garden as a BMW sped off from the car park.

It was found burnt out a short distance away.

A 29-year-old man was held on Saturday night in South Cave, East Yorks.

A woman, 21, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

South Yorkshire police believe Thursday’s attack was planned and the people involved knew each other.

Doncaster Plantworks Amateur Boxing Club, where Tom trained, hailed a “great warrior”.

It said in a statement: "We are absolutely devastated to announce the passing of a great warrior who has spent a huge amount of time over the years boxing with our club.

"We are shocked beyond words to hear the sad news and would like to offer our sincere condolences to Tom's family and closest friends."
