Poland can expel Russian diplomats in connection with the "case of Skripal"

MOSCOW, March 19 (Itar-Tass) - RIA Novosti. Polish authorities are discussing the possibility of expelling Russian diplomats from the country in solidarity with Britain after poisoning the former GRU officer Sergei Skripal. This is reported by Gazeta Prawna with reference to sources in the government.
According to the publication, Warsaw also wants to impose sanctions against Russian companies and officials. It is noted that discussions on this issue began last week, but the decision was postponed until the results of the presidential elections in Russia were received.
The sources of the newspaper reported that the Polish government considers the best solution to joint actions against Russia at the level of the European Union. But if the European authorities fail to reach a unified solution, Warsaw will introduce its own restrictive measures.
Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland Konrad Szymanski said that Warsaw would try to persuade Berlin to abandon the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline against the backdrop of the "Skripal case". According to him, this incident gives reason "to think whether Russia is a partner that is trustworthy."

Skrypal and his daughter Julia found on March 4 in an unconscious state in Salisbury. According to the British government, they were poisoned with a nerve agent allegedly produced in Russia.
London claims that Moscow is involved in poisoning, but there is still no evidence to support this version. British Prime Minister Teresa May announced a number of restrictive measures against Russia, including the deportation of 23 diplomats and the freezing of bilateral contacts at a high level.
In response, the Russian Foreign Ministry declared persona non grata 23 employees of the British Embassy, withdrew consent to the opening of the Consulate General in St. Petersburg, and also announced the termination of the British Council.
