A light aircraft has crash landed into trees at the back of a property on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, narrowly missing homes.

The emergency landing occurred shortly after take-off on Tuesday at 9am.

The crash wiped out part of the back fence of one property in the suburb of Palmwoods before becoming lodged in bushland.

The male pilot, who was the only occupant, was taken to hospital in a stable condition with lower back pain.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this stage.

Queensland Ambulance Service Inspector Michael Riordan said the pilot was lucky the plane didn't explode on impact.

"He had a lot of fuel on board and luckily that didn't leak out when he landed," he said.
