A man has fronted court accused of killing a woman in her semirural property south of Perth on Friday in what police suspect was a random attack.

Neighbours found the body of Cara Hales, 30, inside her home at Henderson Rd, Munster at about midday on Friday and called police and an ambulance.

Jesse John de Beaux, 23, was arrested a short time later after police found him naked and disoriented in the nearby suburb of Henderson.

He allegedly led officers on a short chase through bushland before being taken into custody, according to the Cockburn Gazette.

Mr de Beaux, of Wellard, was charged with the murder of Ms Hales on Saturday.

Police have not revealed how the victim, who reportedly suffered horrific injuries, was killed but have denied initial reports she had been attacked with an axe, Nine reported.

A dishevelled Mr de Beaux stood with his hands in his pockets during a brief appearance at Perth Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

He was not required to enter a plea and spoke only to confirm his name and acknowledge the charge against him, the ABC said.

Investigators have yet to find any evidence the pair were known to known to each other and believe Ms Hales’ death was the result of a random attack.

“At this point we have not identified any link between the victim and the man,” Detective Senior Sergeant Sean Wright told reporters on Saturday.

Friends said they were in shock over Ms Hales’ death, telling the Daily Mail that she had only recently returned to Perth after having lived interstate for several years.

Police are waiting the results of a post-mortem examination to determine the victim’s exact cause of death.

In unrelated incidents, two men were charged with murder following fatal brawls in homes across suburban Perth in the two days after Christmas.

In a separate incident, Connor Stephen Milton, 20, faced the same court on Friday charged with murdering 34-year-old Craig Wilson during a fight outside a home on Willoughby Retreat on Thursday.

The fourth suspicious death related to the discovery of a 30-year-old Perth man found on the side of the road at Kalgoorlie last Wednesday night. No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.
