Parents’ heartbreaking tribute to student mowed down and killed

THE parents of a university graduate who was killed in a callous hit-and-run crash have paid a touching tribute to their daughter, saying she was a "truly amazing" daughter.

Yolanda Moore, 22, a graduate of King's College, London, was crossing the road outside Stockwell tube station when she was hit by a blue C-class Mercedes which was said to be travelling at "up to 90mph" in a 30mph zone.

The keen snowboarding enthusiast was thrown 20ft into the air and was pronounced dead at the scene on Sunday.

She is believed to have been walking home from a night out with her boyfriend and other friends at the time.

In a statement posted online, her family and friends also said: “We are all utterly heartbroken at the loss of our beautiful, funny, one-of-a-kind friend.

"She will be sorely missed from all parts of the world as someone that made time for everyone at the table.

“She was our international storyteller. She spoke of tales that told us about ourselves in ways we didn’t even know or could remember.”

Her father, businessman Wayne Moore, former operations director of luxury yacht company Sunseeker International, told the Standard: “Our only child was beautiful, talented, kind and truly amazing in every way. We are devastated beyond belief as are so many others. She brought joy to everyone she touched.”

Police are now hunting the driver who sped away from the scene leaving the woman fighting for her life in the street.

Detectives are appealing for any information related to the horrific killing.

Emergency workers arrived on the scene and battled to save the woman’s life.

She tragically died at the scene shortly after the arrival of the Met Police and London Ambulance Service.

Detective Sergeant Jose-Paulo Qureshi said cops are trying to track down the car while appealing to any witnesses to come forward.

He said: “We are doing everything we can to trace the vehicle involved in what is now a fatal collision.

"A young woman has lost her life. I would urge the driver concerned to contact police at the earliest opportunity.

"Equally there are those who saw what happened in this busy part of Stockwell and we need them to call the witness line and give information."
