A HERO cop rescued a Brit tourist from a sex attack on a beach in Tenerife after hearing her terrified screams.

The woman had gone to the beach with a man she met during a night out but his friend showed up and attempted to have sex with her.

Her chilling screams caught the attention of an off-duty cop and his pal, who rushed to the woman's aid in the popular resort of Playa de Las Americas.

The pair chased the two Moroccan suspects after they fled and held them until police arrived to formally arrest them.

One of the Moroccan men has been remanded in custody pending an ongoing criminal investigation after appearing in front of a judge in a closed court hearing.

The other suspect, an illegal immigrant, has been sent to a foreigners’ holding centre known as a CIE.

The holidaymaker is understood to have flown back to the UK after giving a statement to police and to a judge.

It comes after a Moroccan man was arrested over the rape of a pensioner in Tenerife.

The 25-year-old is accused of targeting the 74-year-old during a break-in at her apartment in an island holiday resort.

The immigrant, who was known to police, was identified as the suspect after being linked to the attack by his DNA.

The sickening attack happened around 11am on May 13 when the victim was alone in her apartment.

Investigators say she was forced into a bedroom and raped after the intruder found her inside the flat during the break-in.

The unnamed Brit, who was residing at the property in the municipality of Arona which includes the popular holiday resort of Playa de las Americas, was hospitalised for seven days afterwards.

A police source described the suspect as a drifter who was known to police from previous arrests but had never been accused of a serious sex crime.

The items he allegedly stolen included money and jewellery.
