NVIDIA has made available the download links for its stock recovery and developer-only 3.0.0 firmware packages compatible with the SHIELD Android TV and TV Pro devices, which installs the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

This new upgrade allows setting a background for the home screen, redesigns Google Play Store, and gives owners the possibility to customize recommendations row or re-order apps & game tiles. Also, this release supports the new Vulkan API for high-efficiency access to SHIELD’s graphics hardware.
In addition to that, version 3.0.0 has the ability transform SD cards and USB sticks into encrypted internal storages for apps & games, improves color support for Denon receivers and YUV 4:2:0 video playback, and adds an option that sets 1080p 60Hz resolution on Ultra HD TVs.
If applied, NVIDIA’s update will be able to transfer your Google account and Wi-Fi password to the TV just by saying “OK Google, set up my device” to your phone (if it supports this feature), as well as access power menu by holding the Back button.
Moreover, you can now switch between surround and headset audio in Netflix app, set RGB Full Range from Settings > HDMI > Dynamic Range, and make use of the CEC volume control option for several audio receivers.
As if this wasn’t enough, NVIDIA’s developers managed to implement several optimizations for new Apps, GeForce NOW games, and SHIELD titles just like highlighted in the Release Notes below.

That said, download NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV Firmware 3.0.0, carefully apply it on your device, and check our website as often as possible to stay “updated one minute ago.”
