THE man driving the vehicle allegedly responsible for yesterday’s head-on crash in Balcatta has been charged with serious drug offences.

Police will allege that just after 3pm on Saturday a Nissan Maxima was being driven in an easterly direction on Main Street, Balcatta, when it crashed into a traffic light pole at the intersection of Wanneroo Road.

Police said the Nissan was then driven on the wrong side of Wanneroo Road, northbound, when it crashed head-on into a silver Honda.

The 30-year-old female driver of the Honda was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with minor injuries, and her son was taken to Perth Children Hospital, also with minor injuries.

The 26-year-old driver of the Nissan sustained serious injuries and was taken to RPH after being cut free from the vehicle.

Police allege 150g of methylamphetamine was found in the Nissan.

The Noranda man has been charged with possessing a trafficable quantity of meth with intent to sell or supply. He will face court at the later date.

Police said the investigation into the crash was ongoing.
