FORMER Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has been charged by police after a taxi driver was left with a broken jaw, according to reports.

The incident is alleged to have taken place in Copenhagen in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Ex-Arsenal striker Bendtner, 30, who now plays for Rosenborg, was named by local media as the alleged perpetrator.

Danish website bt.dk carried quotes from Rasmus Krochin, the communications manager for Dantaxi.

He is reported to have said: "I can confirm that there has been a serious assault on one of our drivers tonight.

"The driver is currently on the operating table with a broken jaw.

Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet also claimed Bendtner had been charged.

They carry quotes from a spokesperson for the taxi company, who added: "It's the name [Bendtner] that the driver has reported.

"We are deeply shaken. This applies to everyone in the business. We have been informed internally, and of course this is something that has left us shaken.

"Copenhagen police confirmed to the newspaper that they received a report of violence against a taxi driver at 2.41am on Sunday."

Bendtner has not been included in the Denmark side to play Wales in their Nations League clash tonight.
