A SHOCKING video captures the distressing sounds of a baby screaming as it is left alone in a parked car during scorching temperatures.

The disturbing footage sparked fury online after an eyewitness heard the baby crying in a supermarket car park.

The car was spotted in the car park of Tesco in Newton Abbot on Thursday, when temperatures reached around 26 degrees.

A man recording the cries is heard to say the baby is "screaming its head off" and that it was "outrageous" and "out of order".

According to a report on Devon Live supermarket staff issued an urgent shop broadcast when they were informed of the baby in the car by a member of the public.

A Tesco spokesman said: "A customer told one of our colleagues that a young child had been left on their own in a parked car at our Newton Abbot store.
