A CONTESTANT who appeared on My 600-lb Life has died at the age of 50 in the weight-loss reality show's second death this month.

Lisa Fleming was 50st when she appeared on the TLC show in February and viewers watched as seven paramedics removed her from her bed in Texas.

She revealed how she struggled to care for herself and desperately needed help after finding maggots in the folds of her skin.

Lisa managed to lose 6st on the show but had trouble maintaining her diet afterwards and gained 2st when she was released from hospital, Radar Online reported.

Her daughter Danielle announced Lisa had passed away on Thursday, but said her death was not a result of her weight.

She told TMZ: “At the end she was sick and her body was tired and her body just gave out.”

Danielle also told the website that her mum had lost a further 14st on her own in the months after the show aired and was able to stand on her own before her death.

On the show, Lisa said that she had struggled with her weight since childhood, with her issues being exacerbated after her parents divorced and after her brother was murdered.

She also said her weight continued to climb after each of her four pregnancies.

A rep for TLC said: “TLC is saddened to hear that Lisa Fleming, who appeared on My 600-lb Life, passed away on August 23, 2018.

"In February, viewers followed Lisa’s story to overcome childhood struggles and family tragedy during her weight-loss journey with Dr. Now. TLC shares its deepest sympathies to Lisa’s family and friends.”

Lisa is the show's second contestant to die this month after James L.B Bonner took his own life at the age of 30.

He was discovered in a park ditch in Lexington, South Carolina, with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene, according to US reports.

In 2013, Bonner lost his leg in a car accident and became depressed, turning to food and alcohol as a coping mechanism.

He eventually hit 642lbs (46st) as a result, but with the help of the TLC show he shed a staggering 316lbs (22.5st) - half his bodyweight.

Bonner, who was 6ft 5in tall, continued his weight loss even after the show wrapped earlier this year and is said to have reached around 200lb (14st) before his death.
