A MAN desperately banged on a door for help after being fatally stabbed – hours after a teenage girl allegedly knifed two other men in the same town.

The victim of the later attack, who is thought to be a man aged in his 20s, was stabbed in an alleyway in Ipswich, Suffolk.

Local residents said he staggered a few yards and banged on the door of a house before collapsing at around 1.50pm.

Paramedics battled to save the man and an East Anglian Air Ambulance also landed nearby, but he died at the scene.

The attack happened after two 21-year-old men were stabbed at a house around three miles away.

A 15-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent following the attack at around 5.30am.

Police are not connecting the incident at the house with the fatal stabbing.

The two victims were taken by land ambulance to Ipswich Hospital and police said it was believed that their injuries were not life threatening.

Forensic officers in white protective suits were gathering evidence from the scene of the fatal stabbing on Sunday night.

One local resident said: “This area has a really bad reputation. There are a lot of problems with drug dealers, but nobody knows why this guy was stabbed.

“He was in a really bad way after being knifed in the alley behind the houses, but he managed to stagger a short distance and rapped on a door for help.

“It is a horrendous thing to happen on your doorstep.”

Another resident said he opened his door to see several armed officers.

Detective Inspector Holly Evans of Suffolk Police, who is investigating the double stabbing, said: "We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to come forward.

"We believe this is an isolated incident and do not feel there is an obvious increased risk to the wider public.”
