MORRISONS shoppers will earn 80 per cent fewer loyalty points when buying gift cards from October 15.

Customers with More Cards - Morrisons’ loyalty scheme - currently earn 25 points per £1 spent on gift cards.

But from October 15, they’ll only get five points per £1 spent.

Shoppers earn five points per £1 spent on most other items in store and online, which means buying gift cards will no longer be more lucrative than buying anything else.

When contacted by The Sun, Morrisons referred us to its website, which stated:

“Our customers have told us how important it is that that we remain as competitive as possible on prices in store.

“We are making the change so we that we can continue to be more competitive, while still giving customers the opportunity to earn points on gift cards.

“We are always looking at ways to develop our loyalty scheme to ensure we provide the best value for our customers.

“However, the name and design of our Morrisons More scheme will remain the same for the foreseeable future.”

Morrisons isn't the only retailer making changes to its loyalty scheme.
