Another Muslim man was beaten by a mob, reportedly after a dead cow was found outside his house, in Jharkhand's Giridih district on Tuesday.

A part of his house was also set on fire, The Indian Express reported.

The man has been identified as Usman Ansari of Beria Hatiatand village.

Jharkhand police spokesperson and ADG (operations) R K Mullik told the Indian Express that “there was resistance from the crowd” when the police tried to take Ansari to the hospital.

“There was heavy stone pelting. We had to open fire in the air,” Mullik said.

One person was injured in the firing and about 50 policemen injured in the stone pelting, The Express reported.
