Minkomsvyaz did not rule out the possibility of blocking YouTube and Instagram in Russia

SOCHI, Feb 15 - RIA Novosti. The head of the Ministry of Communications Nikolai Nikiforov did not rule out that in Russia they can block access to YouTube and Instagram because of the lawsuit of businessman Oleg Deripaska.

Last week, a social network appeared in the social media and the media, in which Alexey Navalny accused Deripaska of acts contrary to the law. Deripaska's representative said that the charges are false and that the businessman will defend his honor and dignity in court. The lawsuit was filed in the Ust-Labinsky District Court of the Krasnodar Territory, which on February 10 ruled on interim measures. In accordance with them, Roskomnadzor limited access to Internet resources, which housed information from the film. Because of these same restrictive measures, Instagram and YouTube can be blocked.

"If some resources do not comply with Russian law or do not comply with the decisions of Russian courts, then, according to Russian legislation, access to them may be blocked," RIA Novosti said.

Later, Roskomnadzor said that he excluded Instagram from the register of banned information, because links to his video about Deripaska were removed from his pages. As for YouTube, the agency is still waiting for a response from Google.
