Two men have been charged after allegedly attacking police officers during a pub brawl in southern Victoria last night.

Officers were called to the Brewhouse Bar on Gellibrand Street, Queenscliff, just before 10pm yesterday following a request to remove a pubgoer from the venue.

As they worked to remove the patron, two other men allegedly assaulted two of the officers.

The patron then began fighting an officer, before all three offenders fled, police say.

They were later tracked down in a nearby laneway, and arrested at the scene.

Three more men were also arrested after other police officers arrived. Another man later handed himself into Geelong Police Station and was also apprehended.

Two men, both aged 21 years old and from Queenscliff, have since been charged with a range of offences, including recklessly causing injury and assaulting police.

They have both been bailed to appear at the Geelong Magistrates Court on October 5.

The remaining men have been released pending further enquiries, police said in a statement this afternoon.

Investigations are ongoing.
