Married couple locked daughter away from world and subjected her to years of rape

A MUM has been caged after she and her husband subjected their daughter to years of horrific sexual abuse at their Welsh house of horrors.

Swansea Crown Court heard how the girl was never sent to school or allowed to make friends - and is so emotionally damaged she may never be successfully adopted.

The vile pair were locked up for a total of 23 years.

Their daughter, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was subjected to years of sexual abuse - much of which was caught on camera.

The name of the abusers and the location of their house cannot be reported to protect her identity - but the man is in his 50s and the woman is in her 20s.

They met in an English pub when she was just 16, before moving to Wales.

Robin Rouch, prosecuting, told how the youngster "had been conditioned to see the abuse as normal".

As part of their investigation Welsh detectives then contacted the man's children from his first marriage - the daughter told them her father had sexually abused her over an 18-month period.

The court heard his second wife is suffering from 'battered person syndrome', a form of post-traumatic stress disorder.

The court was told she had in effect been sexually groomed by her husband, who had spotted and exploited her vulnerabilities.
