A MAN and a woman have been arrested over a spate of break-ins in Adelaide’s south overnight.

Police were sent to Daisy Avenue, Mitchell Park, just after 1am after an occupant of a house heard someone breaking in.

The victim called out and then heard a person run off. They then found a bag left behind.

Officers set up cordons and called in police dog Nero to help.

“A few minutes later, police were advised of a woman seen running from a unit in Daisy Ave after having tried to break-in,” a police spokeswoman said.

“PD Nero tracked towards the Ascot Park Railway Station where a man and a woman were located.”

The suspects ran from police but were arrested after a short foot chase.

“Further calls to police resulted in an attempted break-in and another separate break-in being reported in Hazel Street at Ascot Park,” the spokeswoman said.

An 18-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man, both of no fixed address, were arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated serious criminal trespass and one count of unlawfully being on premises.

They were refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police are continuing their investigations and ask anyone who discovers their house or car has been broken into to call the Police Assistance Line on 131 444.
