A MAN kept his McDonald's order for six years and then put it on eBay.

Dave Alexander wanted to know if the rumours that the chain's products last for years without showing any sign of rotting.

So on June 7 2012, the farmer, from Ontario, Canada, asked his daughter to pop down to the nearest McDonald's and order a burger and fries.

Then he put the meal on a shelf and left it there.

After six years Dave decided to put the meal on eBay, with a starting bid of £17.

His post, which read "ORIGINAL OWNER - Never eaten", is no longer live on the shopping site, but before it was taken down bidding is thought to have reached nearly £50.

The farmer claimed on Twitter that the post was removed from eBay because no expiration date had been given for the "food item”.

Dave told CBC Radio the food looked "surprisingly decent still".

He added: "It basically has petrified itself. It looks very sell-able, I'm going to assume that someone's going to re-home my cheeseburger.

"The fries are stunningly good looking.

“The fries look like they were purchased this morning.

"The burger itself has darkened a little bit.

“The bun is about as hard as a hockey puck, but it looks just like it's brand new cosmetically.

Twitter users were stunned by his discovery with one person saying: "If McDonald's food can last six years and looks the same, you should be worried about eating there period."

Another added: "This is just GROSS! Shows how many chemicals are in that so called 'food'."

A third simply wrote: "Yuck!"
