Man found dead 48 hours after being confronted by paedo hunters

A 47-YEAR-OLD man has been found dead at his home just 48 hours after paedophile hunters accused him of sexting a 14-year-old girl.

Nigel Sherratt was approached by members of vigilante group Soul Survivors who confronted him about the alleged messages.

In a video sting they posted online, they told him they had posed as a teenage girl and accused him of grooming.

Just 48 hours later, his body was found at his home in Cannock, Staffs.

Today, his heartbroken brother told The Sun Online he was "grieving" but refused to say anymore due to "legal reasons".

It is understood relatives have denied the accusations against Nigel.

Nigel was sat in his car when the paedo vigilante group - who had printed out his messages - confronted him.

Confirming his name to the camera, he initially denied talking to the "girl" but eventually admitted messaging her on Facebook.

Video footage showed him later being ushered towards a police car.

Days later, Soul Survivors informed readers on its official Facebook page that Nigel had died.

The group wrote: “We’ve had confirmation that Nigel Sheratt (sic) from Cannock unfortunately has [died].

“In what we do this is not an outcome that we look to achieve and only aim to put it into the hands of the police.

“We have seen some angry comments but all we want is for justice to be served.... Our hearts go out too his family this is awful news for us as a team.”

Cops confirmed they were called to Nigel's property on Sunday.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman added: “Police were called to a house in Cannock at around 1:40pm where sadly the body of a man was found.

“We are not treating the death as suspicious at this time.

“The death has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to previous contact between police and the deceased.”

It is unclear whether police were planning on taking any action against Nigel.
