A Chicago man was charged on Wednesday with killing his mother on Christmas Eve and dumping her body in an alleyway, police said.

Robert Wallace, 25, is facing one felony count of first-degree murder in the death of his mother, Betty Wallace, 67, who was found unresponsive inside a garbage can in an alleyway with multiple stab wounds to her legs and blunt trauma injuries to her face at about 2 p.m. Monday, a police source told The Post.

Betty Wallace was pronounced dead at the scene and her son was arrested later that evening in the 10500 block of South Church Street, where his mother also lived, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Betty Wallace’s body was discovered by Department of Streets and Sanitation employees as they worked in the 10800 block of South Prospect Avenue, roughly half a mile from her Far South Side home, the newspaper reports.

Wallace was scheduled to appear in court Thursday. He has yet to make any statements to investigators regarding the allegations, police said Thursday.

An autopsy by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office found that Betty Wallace died of multiple sharp force injuries and that the manner of death was a homicide, WLS-TV reported.
