A MAN has been arrested after appearing to demand football manager Brendan Rodgers returns to Celtic in a siege with armed cops.

Pictures and videos circulating on social media show firearm officers and a specialist negotiator outside a block of flats in Paisley, near Glasgow, around 11pm on Monday night.

In the clip, the man can be heard shouting: “I want a bag of cans, I want Brendan Rodgers back, I want a job."

Rodgers, 46, controversially quit the Hoops at the end of February to return to the Premier League with mid-table Leicester City.

His decision prompted anger in the green half of Glasgow, with fans displaying a banner in the next home game that read: "You traded immortality for mediocrity. Never a Celt, always a fraud."

Neil Lennon took over at Celtic and has won three of four matches in charge, while Rodgers has won two out of three in his new post.

Police confirmed that specialist negotiators were sent to the scene.

They had responded to reports that the man, 31, was allegedly armed.

Detectives said a man was arrested and charged over the incident.

It's understood that he is expected to appear in court later today.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police called to a disturbance in Springbank Road, Paisley around 11pm on Monday in which a 31-year-old man was allegedly brandishing weapons.

"Officers, including specialist negotiators and public order, attended and the man was detained around 2.30am.

"He was initially taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for assessment but has now been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
