A MAN has been charged over the Halloween murder of a dad stabbed to death in a London park.

Stephen O'Rourke, 46, has been accused of killing Rocky Djelal in broad daylight in Southwark close to a children's playground.

He will appear at Croydon Magistrates' Court on Monday along with Jason O'Rourke, 34, who was charged with assisting an offender.

Paramedics battled to save 38-year-old Rocky but he died at the scene from a single stab wound.

In a statement following the attack, his family thanked those who had rushed to his aid.

"We are absolutely grief-stricken," they said.

"We have lost our boy, our son who we adored. A father who was idolised by his daughter, a brother who was loved dearly and an uncle, nephew and friend who was loved and respected.

"Anyone who really knew you knows you have a heart of gold and you'd do anything to help those you love."

Rocky's death was one of five in London in just a week - bringing the murder toll in the capital to 122.

In just six days from October 31 to November 5 there were five fatal stabbings in the capital.

The victims were Rocky, Jai Sewell, 15, Malcolm Mide-Madariola, 17, Ayodeji Habeeb Azeez, 22, and 16-year-old John Ogunjobi.
