A MAN has been charged with kidnap after a four-year-old girl and her teen sister were grabbed in the street in broad daylight.

Jamie Gledhill, 30, was also charged with assault after the alleged snatch unfolded in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire on Sunday.

Police said they had received reports a man "took hold" of the four-year-old girl - assaulting her 16-year-old sister.

He then allegedly let the younger girl go, running off in the direction of Parker Road.

West Yorkshire Police today confirmed the accused had appeared at Leeds Combined Court this morning charged with kidnap and assault and three assaults on Police Officers.

He was also been charged with a further offence of kidnap after the incident on Pioneer Street.

He was remanded in custody.
