A MAN, 20s, was arrested after arriving in Dublin Airport on a flight from Dubai with 13kg of heroin concealed in his luggage.

Drugs worth over €2.2 million were seized at Dublin Airport and Rosslare Europort in separate Revenue operations in the past week.

Revenue Officers seized over 67kgs of cannabis resin in Rosslare

Revenue officers seized heroin with an estimated street value of €1.8 million during a routine operation at the airport last Saturday.

Today, the UK national was charged with importing heroin at Cloverhill District Court, Dublin.

He was initially arrested under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 and brought to Ballymun Garda Station.

He was remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison until October 25, when he is due to face court again.

In a separate operation in Rosslare Europort, over 67kgs of cannabis resin with an estimated street value of €403,000 was seized on Thursday.

The drugs were discovered when an SUV with a UK registration plate was stopped and searched when it arrived in Rosslare from Cherbourg, France.

The UK national in his forties was arrested at the scene and taken to Wexford Garda Station.

The drugs were discovered in the interior chassis sills of the jeep by Detector Dog Defor and mobile x-ray.
