A BUS driver was injured after gunshots were fired outside a Tube station in North London.

The man, aged in his 50s, suffered a cut to his forehead from flying glass in the early hours of the morning.

Armed officers swooped on Turnpike Lane station in Wood Green at 12.24am.

The station in the capital has bus stands where drivers swap shifts and one was found with minor injuries to his forehead from "glass shattering".

He was taken to a north London hospital.

Officers from the Met Police, who found evidence a firearm was used, remain investigating at the scene.

There have been no arrests.

A spokesman for the Met Police said: "Police were called on Friday, December 28 at 12.24am to reports of shots fired outside Turnpike Lane Station.

"Local officers and armed police attended.

"A bus driver, aged in his 50s, had suffered superficial injuries to his forehead from glass shattering.

"The London Ambulance Service attended and the bus driver was taken to a north London hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

"Evidence of a firearms discharge was found at the scene.

"There are no reports of any other persons injured.

"No arrests.

"Officers remain on scene and enquiries are ongoing."

Road closures earlier reported by Transport for London have since been lifted.

The Piccadilly Line, which Turnpike Lane station is on, was unaffected.

A 29-year-old man was sprayed with ammonia yesterday in an attack in Tower Hamlets, East London while another man had a corrosive substance thrown in his face in Stoke Newington, North London the previous morning.
