Killers Levi Bellfield and Ian Huntley let out of cells for four-course dinner

SOME of Britain’s most notorious killers have been tucking into Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

Ian Huntley, Levi Bellfield and other inmates at HMP Frankland, have been let out of their cells to freely mix with other prisoners, it was reported.

Frankland is dubbed “Monster Mansion” on account of the horrific crimes committed by its inmates and is also home to Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe and Sean Mercer, the killer of Rhys Jones.

Prisoners are asked to choose Christmas dinner from a menu that “caters for everyone” three weeks ahead of December 25, according to the Daily Star.

The meals, which are delivered on the day, consist of a starter, a main, dessert and fruit and a choice of turkey, beef and chicken.

There is a wide range of options for prisoners with different dietary requirements and religious beliefs, including Halal, Kosher and vegetarian.

“On the normal wings they all eat together, there’s a big table where they eat their Christmas dinner,” said a former prisoner officer.

“They have to ask permission to do that. But it all depends on behaviour.”

But the officer said the prisoners don’t get into the festive spirit.

“They don’t say happy Christmas to you. They couldn’t care less. They all have a cushy time I believe.”

Huntley has asked to leave HMP Frankland and transfer to a women's prison after demanding a sex change, it was reported recently.

The former school caretaker killed schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in 2002 after they went missing from a family BBQ.

The Ministry of Justice said £2.02 per day is spent on prisoners.

Meals in prisons over Christmas and New Year are paid for from within the existing budget and at no extra cost to the taxpayer, it added.
