HORRIFIC pictures show the swollen and bloodied face of a student after she was allegedly beaten and raped by a stranger while living in Spain.

Andrea Sicignano, 27, says she was violently attacked in the days before Christmas after a night out.

The American claims she was approached by an unfamiliar man while sitting "lost and upset" at a bus stop in Madrid, where she'd been living for the past six months.

Andrea said she had gotten the wrong bus and the stranger at first offered to help her at around 4am.

But when she tried to leave, he allegedly became violent and battered her until she couldn't see through the blood.

Andrea said she then closed her eyes and played dead as the attacker beat and raped her.

Although she was sure she was going to die, Andrea says the man was gone when she opened her eyes.

Now she's bravely taken the decision to share pictures of her face after the alleged attack, along with her sickening account of what happened to her.

Andrea used her post to raise funds to help sexual support victims and to pay towards her medical bills through a GoFundMe page.

She wrote on Facebook: "This is going to be hard to read for those of you that know me, but I need you all to hear my voice."

Andrea then described going out in Madrid with a friend on a recent weekend.

She wrote: "We went out for the night to see a Flamenco show. We were both drunk, and when we left the final bar we got separated."

The student then described being approached by a man in an unfamiliar area.

Andrea wrote: "I needed help and this man assured me he could help me get home.

"It’s unclear exactly what happened next, but as soon as I started to realize I could be in danger, I tried to leave. But this man became forceful and violent towards me.

"As I fought, he started to beat me. I was screaming and fighting with all of the power I could muster."

The New Yorker then claims she was hit in the face "over and over" until she could no longer fight, and she was raped.

She goes on to describe running barefoot and screaming for help in the street when the man was gone.

Andrea was able to flag down a passing car and a "kind stranger" called an ambulance for her.

She said: "I was rushed to the hospital. Alone. Terrified. And unable to contact anyone for hours.

"My nose fractured in 4 places. I had bruises and scratches covering my body."

She ended her post resolutely, writing: "I speak on behalf of anyone who has experienced this hell - and on behalf of those whose voices have been silenced.

"This story could have ended so differently. Things must change."

A man has been arrested in connection with the incident, Yahoo.com reports.
