A KALASHNIKOV-wielding man has reportedly been seen opening fire at a restaurant in Brussels.

Ine Van Wymersch, spokeswoman for the Brussels prosecution office, said there were no reported injuries, according to local media.

She told RTL Info: “A witness saw a man shoot with a Kalashnikov-style war weapon towards the window of a restaurant on Avenue Louise."

Reuters says that the police said the motive was unclear, however Van Wymersch said it was not believed to have been a terrorist attack.

She added: “Police found three bullet impacts; so far we have no knowledge of any injuries.”

Reuters reports that the man fired several times into the window of the eatery in central Brussels before fleeing.

The shooting occurred at 9.50am (local time) today in Avenue Louise, which is an upmarket shopping street.

Forensics and ballistic experts have been sent to the scene.
