IT was a hairy start to the month for television larrikin Jono Coleman who spent the day with a razor in hand, trimming bears and smoothing upper lips in support of men’s health.

Coleman, 62, who was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in May last year, kicked off Movember at a pop-up barber at Darling Harbour attraction Madame Tussauds.

The Studio 10 personality has been given the all-clear from doctors, but has vowed to remain vigilant after his ordeal with cancer.

“I’m never blatantly saying to myself ‘I’m cancer free’. I think you’ve just got to be careful,” Coleman said.

“I’m 99 per cent clear but there’s that thing in the back of my mind going ‘don’t be complacent’.”

“Movember is very much about the physical men’s health but also the mental men’s health,” Daddo said.

“I think that happy men create happy families and happy communities.”
