Warning: May Contain Disturbing Imagery. Reader Discretion Advised

One of James Tynion IV's most ambitious projects, Razorblades: The Horror Magazine, will soon be getting a massive omnibus that will be perfect for horror fans. Horror anthologies have been a staple of the comics industry for decades and are still wildly popular to this day with works like The Ice Cream Man and Juan Doe's terrifyingly satirical horror anthology Spectro having a huge audience. Now, the biggest piece of anthological horror is getting a massive collection from Image that every horror comic fan should keep an eye out for this summer.

Razorblades: The Horror Magazine is a horror anthology comic created by James Tynion IV and Steve Foxe known for such horror comics as The Closet and The Department of Truth. This series was originally released as a digital-only comic that showcased the latest names in horror. This gave aspiring comic writers and artists an opportunity to have their horrifying tales told, as well as get their names out there to make bigger connections in the industry. Tynion would occasionally contribute with his own stories as well, but they made the conscious decision to keep the spotlight on new talent with a pay-what-you-can model, and that's what led to the announcement of Razorblades becoming a huge success. In fact, the end result was so big that Tynion has officially partnered with Image Comics to take these stories off the internet and into the literal hands of comic readers.

According to Image Comics, a massive omnibus compiling the first five issues of comics from Razorblades will be released this summer for horror fans everywhere. The collection will total up to a whopping 350 pages, giving readers so much nightmare fuel to satisfy their taste for terror. The stories, like the original digital comic, will showcase a huge variety of artists including Marguerite Bennett, DaNi, Nick Robles, and John J. Pearson just to name a few. On top of this, there will also be "prose, illustrations, and in-depth interviews with horror icons like Scott Snyder." This will be a collection that shouldn't be missed for fans of the genre. Image is also releasing the same day will be a special one-shot comic called Razorblades: Small Cuts Special #1. This shorter comic will feature every comic Tynion contributed to the magazine's first year. It will feature artwork from artists like Martin Simmonds, Josh Hixon and even Ricardo Lopez Ortiz, who worked with Tynion during his redefining reset for Batman. Razorblades: Book One and its smaller counterpart Small Cuts Special will be released on July 20, 2022 at local comic stores and bookstores. Currently, the omnibus is expected to price at $49.99, but given the amount of content described, it seems like it will be well worth the money.

Given how important horror anthologies are to the history of comics, it's refreshing to see them return in such a big way. Though there might be strong competition at the moment, Razorblades stands out with its unique voice and focus on new talent. Tynion is one of the comics industry's most exciting creators, and Razorblades appears to be no exception. This is certainly a collection fans of horror don't want to miss out on.

Razorblades is one of the biggest projects that James Tynion IV and Steve Foxe have worked on to date, and to see it finally get a massive publication that's perfect for fans of anthologies like Shakespeare Unleashed while getting exposure for emerging horror talent is an amazing feat that's well worth a trip to add it to the collection.
