IVANKA Trump received a red-carpet welcome when she arrived in South Korea on Friday as head of the US delegation to the Closing Ceremony of the Winter Olympics.

“We are very, very excited to attend the 2018 Olympic Winter Games to cheer for Team USA and to reaffirm our strong and enduring commitment with the people of the Republic of Korea,” she said in Seoul.

their dinner meeting at the Presidential Blue House in Seoul on February 23, 2018. Trump's daughter Ivanka arrived in Seoul on February 23 to attend the PyeongChang Winter Olympics closing ceremony, where a top North Korean general will also be present.

According to the Post, the first daughter and senior White House adviser then headed to a dinner with President Moon Jae-in at his residence, the Blue House, according to CNN.

On Sunday, she will attend the Closing Ceremony of the PyeongChang Games, where her appearance is drawing attention-grabbing comparisons to that of the younger sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Kim Yo Jong stole the limelight from US Vice President Mike Pence, who ignored her at the Opening Ceremony and remained seated as the unified Korean team marched in the stadium.

The North also plans to send a high-level delegation that is expected to be led by former spymaster Kim Yong Chol, the vice chairman of the Party Central Committee, who is believed to be behind a torpedo attack against a South Korean warship in 2010 that killed 46 sailors.

For now, there are no signs that Ivanka Trump will meet him at the ceremony.

The White House has stressed that the purpose of her visit is to celebrate the achievements of the athletes, noting that she is a winter sports enthusiast herself, enjoying skiing in particular.

Ms Trump told South Korea’s president that while she was in South Korea to celebrate the Winter Olympics, she will also use her visit to advocate “maximum pressure” on North Korea to halt its nuclear program and to “ensure that the Korean Peninsula is denuclearised.”

South Korean media said Mr Moon would emphasise the importance of holding US-North Korea talks in the meeting with Ms Trump.

Mr Moon hopes to make the Olympics an avenue for peace on the divided Korean Peninsula. He met Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, and Kim Yong Nam, North Korea’s nominal head of state, a day after the opening ceremony and urged North Korea to do more to engage in a dialogue with the United States.

For now, there are no signs that Ivanka Trump will meet Kim Yong Chol, vice chairman of North Korea’s ruling Workers’ Party Central Committee, who is to attend the closing ceremony.
