Apple previously only gave renters in the US 24 hours to finish a rented movie.

Apple just made it a little more attractive to rent movies off iTunes, especially for those of us with short attention spans who can't sit through a whole feature film in one sitting.

Now, once you start watching a movie you've rented on iTunes, you have 48 hours to finish it, according to an updated Apple support document. As MacRumors notes, Apple previously only gave renters in the US 24 hours to finish a rented movie after pressing play.

Apple has offered 48-hour rentals to users in other countries for some time, but for whatever reason the Cupertino tech giant is just now extending this perk to the US, just in time for the weekend.

During your 48-hour rental window, you can play the movie as many times as you like, but you only have 30 days to start watching a movie after renting it.

"If you don't start watching a movie within 30 days, you must rent it again," Apple advised. Any movies you've rented will live in your iTunes library until the rental period ends.

Meanwhile, if you love watching movies, you might want to consider getting a subscription to MoviePass. The service, which recently dropped from $30 a month to just $9.95, lets subscribers watch a new, 2D movie every single day at one of 4,000 movie theaters across the US. That's a pretty insane deal considering the average price of a single movie theater ticket in the US is now $8.89.
