TECH VLOGGERS appear to have already cracked Apple's latest iPhone update – finding a way to skip past the lock screen.

The hack seemingly lets anyone bypass your phone's passcode, gaining access to private info like your contacts and photos.

Apple only released the latest iOS 12 update on Monday, September 17, but gadget enthusiasts have already found a way around its first layer of protection.

A YouTuber named VideosDeBarrquito has released a new video showing how to dodge the iPhone's lock screen passcode.

The spanish-language YouTuber is famous for cracking into iPhones – and had his new method verified by another famous American gadget vlogger, EverythingApplePro.

Both YouTube channels show the exploit working in a matter of minutes.

"So that's kind of crazy that this is even possible," said EverythingApplePro.

"I remember making this videos years upon years upon years ago, and almost every single year there comes out some sort of way to skip the passcode, and get into some function of the phone that's not allowed.

"It's a problem that Apple has had since the beginning and still new ways are being found."

In his video, EverythingApplePro uses an iPhone XS Max with Apple's Face ID facial recognition system disabled.

That means the phone is only protected by a passcode – a six-digit PIN chosen by the user.

We won't detail exactly how the hack works.

But we can confirm that involves using a combination of Apple features, including VoiceOver, an accessibility setting that lets your iPhone speak text on your screen aloud.

You also need to use FaceTime calling to get the bug to work.

If successful, it becomes possible to access recently dialled or receive phone numbers and contact cards.

This can give up valuable info, like email addresses, photos, birthdays, and other contact information.

A variant of the exploit also gives you access to a locked iPhone's Camera Roll (and other folders, too).

These photos can then be used to add profile pictures to contact cards on the iPhone.

Apple released iOS 12 earlier this month, to coincide with the launch of the new iPhone XS smartphone.

The popular update makes significant improvements to iPhone performance speed, and adds lots of new features.

Popular features include Screen Time tracking of your app usage, improved notification handling, and new animated Memoji emoji that look like you.

But the iOS 12 update has also proved controversial.

We've extensively covered iOS 12 problems, which include reports of charging issues, bad battery life, "washed out" screens, and an unpopular change to FaceTime.

Apple declined to comment on this story.
