Taylor Swift has a new squad and you may be surprised by who’s in and who’s out.

The guest list for her star-studded costume ball seems to indicate that she has shaken off some of her old pals and has decided to ring in the new year with new chums.

Gone were the likes of Karlie Kloss, Lena Dunham, Selena Gomez et al. Instead, Swift saw in 2019 with longtime friends Blake Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds, Abigail Lucier, model Gigi Hadid, and some new pals, including Iris Apatow, stylist Ashley Avignone and model Leah McCarthy.

All attended the party dressed up as their favourite childhood movie characters.

Swift, 29, dressed as Ariel from the Disney film The Little Mermaid.

The “Delicate” musician wore a green and blue costume and had Ariel’s signature red crab tied over her shoulder, complementing her flowing red wig.

Swift’s friend, model Gigi Hadid, 23, dressed as “practically perfect” nanny Mary Poppins, the film of which has recently been remade starring Emily Blunt in the title role.

Posting a picture of herself with her pals on Instagram, Swift wrote: “Mary Poppins, Audrey, Ariel, Ms. Frizzle, Cinderella, Gwen, Mr. Toad, Avril, Nancy Drew, Posh Spice, Rizzo, Frida Kahlo, Steve Irwin, Dorothy.

“This new year we decided to dress up as our childhood heroes. Sending you all love and hope going into 2019.”

One of the rare guys in attendance at Swift’s party was Ryan Reynold, seen pretending to swig from a bottle of his Aviation brand gin. It’s not clear if his suit was a costume and if so, who. But his wife, Blake Lively’s choice was clear: she dressed up as Dorothy from the childhood classic The Wizard of Oz.

Swift’s boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, wasn’t visible in any of the photos shared online, although they were spotted out and about in New York City a couple of days earlier.

And in addition to celebrating new friends and the incoming year, Page Six reports that the group was also gathered to watch Swift’s new Reputation tour special which dropped on Netflix on new Year’s Eve.
