Micro-blogging and social networking site Tumblr has temporarily disappeared from the Apple App Store. On Tumblr's website Friday, the company posted about issues that users were having with the app, stating that it hopes to have it functional again soon. An update added today says that the company is still working on the issue.

While it isn't clear whether Tumblr pulled the app itself, or whether it was removed by Apple, there is speculation that some kind of inappropriate content popped up on the app, forcing it to be removed from the App Store. According to PiunikaWeb, Tumblr members using the iOS app were unable to do a search with Safe Mode off. Those who deleted the app in hopes of reinstalling it, found that it was missing from the App Store. Some iOS users who went to their purchases page were able to reinstall Tumblr on their iPhone or iPad.

"We’re working to resolve an issue with the iOS app and hope to be fully functional again soon. We really appreciate your patience as we figure this out, and we'll update this article when we have news to share."-Tumblr
Back in February, Apple removed messaging app Telegram from the App Store after it received complaints about inappropriate content that was being hosted on that app. The removal of the Tumblr app from the App Store did not affect Tumblr's Android app, which remains listed in the Google Play Store.
