YouTube’s highest earners: how a kid made $30m in 2018
In many ways YouTube star Ryan, of Ryan ToysReview, is like any other kid - he absolutely loves playing with toys.
The big difference is that this kid, together with his parents, earns millions doing so.
His YouTube channel, which launched in March of 2015, has more than 17.3 million followers and has clocked up close to 26 billion views.
That sort of following has helped bring in some serious dough - US$22m (AUD$30.2m) between June 2017 and June 2018 alone, according to Forbes.
The incredible amount made Ryan, reported to be just seven or eight years old, the highest paid YouTuber of the year.
Forbes wrote that Ryan’s “short, simple videos” made him one of the one of the most popular influencers online.
“For Ryan, this means not only an endless stream of toys to play with but also a seemingly endless stream of money,” the outlet wrote.
Merchandise, music videos and prank clips earned Jake Paul, the younger brother of 10th-placed Logan, US$21.5m in the same 12-month period.
Dude Perfect, a five-man sports crew, earned $20m to place third.
