THE heartbroken family of a tragic 11-year-old girl who died after being hit by a Mercedes have today paid tribute.

Emily Williams was struck by the car in Swindon, Wilts., on Friday afternoon.

She was taken to Bristol Children's Hospital but tragically died on Sunday.

Emily's family has paid tribute to the kind-hearted child who last year donated her hair to a charity which provides wigs for sick children.

In a statement, her family said: "Emily was very musical and was always singing.

"Last year, Emily donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust which provides wigs for children who suffer from medical conditions or trauma.

"Emily's hair was plaited and had bows and ribbons in and then was professional cut to make the donation.

"Emily has now donated her organs to help others."

Emily was involved in the collision in Upper Stratton, Swindon, at 2pm on Friday.

Traffic collision investigators closed the road for several hours to examine the scene.

Flowers have now been placed at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the vehicle involved, a silver Mercedes C180, remained on the scene.

Police identified the driver as a 26-year-old local man.

No arrests have been made.

Wiltshire Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
