Hit105 radio host blasts Rove McManus: ‘What a d**k!’

A BRISBANE radio host has blasted Rove McManus on air, calling the comedian “a dick”.

Matty Acton, who hosts the Hit105 breakfast show with Stav Davidson and Abby Coleman, announced this morning that Rove is now banned from the radio show after the TV personality didn’t return their phone calls.

The Hit105 breakfast team wanted Rove’s help with their campaign to try to get Pink, who is performing in Brisbane from tonight until August 22, to come and play handball with them at the Ekka, on at the moment.

Last week the radio stars called Rove on air to see if he could tweet Pink and invite her to the annual Brisbane Ekka on their behalf. Pink only follows 454 people on Twitter and Rove, a good friend of hers, is one of them

The comedian didn’t answer their call so they left him a voicemail that said: “We’ve had you on our show a lot to plug lots of stuff and we need your help.”

They also tweeted Rove and asked him to call them back.

Let’s be honest. If you had a super famous friend and someone asked you to tweet them on their behalf, would you do it? No, probably not, and neither did Rove.

But when Acton found out on air this morning that Rove had met up with Pink on the weekend, he was outraged and had a crack at the comedian for not even returning their calls.

“What a dick,” the radio host said.

“We have had him on this show talking about his boring shows, his stupid non-rating television shows. He declines our calls when we ring him for a favour and then he’s toddled off hanging out with Pink. Hasn’t answered any of our tweets or phone calls ever.”

The attack caught his co-hosts by surprise and Coleman replied, “I thought you’d be worked up … I didn’t think you’d be that worked up!”

Acton continued, saying, “It’s not how it works, mate. We talk about your boring stuff so then you talk about our boring stuff. That’s how a friendship works.

“Oh well, no more boring Rove chat on our show anymore,” he declared.

The on-air spray is even more surprising given the Hit105 station is part of the same radio network that Rove hosted his breakfast show with Sam Frost on in Sydney.

On the weekend, Pink raved about Rove and his wife, Tasma Walton, in the caption of an Instagram photo she shared with her 4.8 million followers.

“As challenging and as topsy turvy and forever changing as it all can be, this thing called life … one of my all time biggest and forever gratitudes is this; my travels have brought me gems,” the singer wrote.

“Unique, antique collectable, one-of-a-kinders. These people that I love with my whole heart and see so rarely. My life and my heart is so full because of them, these rad f***ing humans spread across the globe. I love you @rovemcmanus and @tasma_walton and I missed you dearly.”

Rove is currently in Sydney working on his upcoming live TV show, Bring Bank … Saturday Night, which will air on August 25 at 7.30pm as part of Channel 10’s pilot week.
