THE Duke and Duchess of Sussex will go ahead with their planned visit to Fiji and Tonga next week despite a Zika virus concern in the Pacific island countries.

Kensington Palace says there will be no change to the itinerary of Harry and Meghan’s tour including, despite travel advice that pregnant women should consider not travelling to Fiji and Tonga because of the moderate Zika virus risk.

The mosquito-borne disease presents with flu-like symptoms and in extreme cases can trigger paralysis and cause subsequent birth defects.

The palace said the couple had sought medical advice and decided to continue with their plans.

Meghan’s pregnancy was announced on Monday night, hours after the couple arrived in Australia for the 16-day tour that will also include New Zealand.

In a statement, Kensington Palace said: “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019.

“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”

The baby will be seventh in line to the throne, and the Queen’s eighth great- grandchild
