THE newly married Duke and Duchess of Sussex have partied the night away after an extraordinary wedding ceremony that stunned the royal family and the millions watching.

Fireworks lit up the sky over Windsor as 200 guests joined Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for a lavish evening bash at Frogmore House.

The happy couple arrived in a converted electric Jaguar after a multi-cultural ceremony unlike anything the royal family has seen before.

For the evening reception, Meghan dazzled in a floor-length halter gown by British designer Stella McCartney.

In a touching tribute, Meghan wore a stunning emerald-cut aquamarine ring that once belonged to Princess Diana.

The Stella McCartney bespoke lily-white high neck dress was made of silk crepe, with shoes by Aquazurra, made in silky satin with nude mesh and powder-blue soles.

Meghan’s hair was pinned in her trademark messy knot by Fitzrovia hair stylist George Northwood.

Prince Harry drove the distance from the private apartment, within Windsor Castle, about 800 metres to Frogmore, where a specially built marquee was waiting with 200 VIP guests, ready to party.

The car, for enthusiasts, was a Concept Zero, built in 1968 but since converted to electric power — in keeping with the couple’s environmental credentials.

The married pair were not seen for the rest of the evening. The evening reception was the work of the same event planners behind William and Kate’s wedding reception.

TV host James Corden reportedly played host for the night. Guests were given a few hours after the lunch to rest up and change outfits.

Hours earlier, Prince Harry moved guests to tears with his emotional speech at the pair’s lunchtime reception at Windsor Castle.

Guest, Suhani Jalota, the founder of the India-based Myna Mahila charity, told the BBC there was a round of applause for Harry’s moving address.

“Some people were even crying. I think it was just a very, really nice atmosphere to be in where everybody felt really loved.

“Essentially, it was just about how Harry was as a child and growing up. And now just about the couple and how beautiful they are together.”

An unnamed guest told People magazine Prince Charles’s speech at the lunchtime reception was “very sweet” and heartfelt, and he described “how proud” he was of the man his son had “grown into”.

“He ended it calling him, ‘My darling old Harry, I’m so happy for you’, which was very sweet,” the guest said.

The radiant bride and groom were wed in an extraordinary ceremony which saw their medieval church filled with laughter, tears, gospel music and the words of a charismatic preacher.

The emotional pair sealed their love with a kiss on the steps of the church after exchanging vows before the Queen, the entire British royal family and a host of celebrity A-listers, while an estimated two billion people tuned in on TV and social media.

According to lip reader Tina Lannin, when they were mid-way down the West Steps there was a moment of uncertainty over their first kiss, The Telegraph UK reports.

Meghan discreetly asked Harry: “Do we kiss?”

Harry quietly replied: “Yeah”.

As the carriage pulled away from the crowds Meghan seemed to be in awe saying “wow”.

Lannin said that he said to his bride: “I’m ready for a drink now.

THE RECEPTION AND AFTER PARTY
After the wedding ceremony, the Queen hosted a lunchtime reception for 600 guests at the giant state room inside Windsor Castle.

Sir Elton John performed at the lunchtime event in recognition of the close connection he has with Prince Harry and his family.

The reception also included the cutting of the wedding cake, which was designed by Claire Ptak and featured elderflower syrup made at The Queen’s residence in Sandringham.

The Windsor Castle kitchens prepared fine canapés and finger-food using seasonal ingredients, so that guests could mingle, instead of a formal sit-down lunch.

Guests were served a selection of canapés, including Scottish langoustines wrapped in smoked salmon with citrus crème fraiche and grilled English asparagus wrapped in Cumbrian ham.

In a nod to the California-born Meghan, guests also enjoyed a selection of bowl food, including fricassee of free range chicken with mushrooms and young leeks.

The evening event, hosted by Harry’s father Prince Charles at Frogmore House, was for 200 close friends and family members, and was reportedly be the scene of more boisterous celebrations. Prince William — who had vowed revenge on Prince Harry — is believed to have given his best-man speech at the evening bash.

Meghan also reportedly gave a speech at the night-time reception.

Cameras were banned, and American and English food and beverages flowed all through the night, with guests dancing until dawn.

THE CEREMONY
Wearing a stunning Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy gown, a lengthy, flowing veil and a diamond tiara loaned by the Queen, the 36-year-old American actor made a feminist statement by walking the first part of the aisle alone before Prince Charles joined her for the final steps to meet Prince Harry, 33, at the altar of St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, outside London.

Harry said “thank you Pa’’ as Ms Markle joined him, the pair gazing into each other’s eyes. He then whispered “you look amazing, I missed you”, before Ms Markle handed her bouquet to one of her flowergirls.

Ms Markle’s absent father Thomas Markle emerged after the event, telling the American media that he felt “emotional and joyful’’ watching the ceremony on TV.

“My baby looks beautiful and she looks very happy. I wish I were there and I wish them all my love and all happiness,’’ he told TMZ.

MEGHAN’S A-LIST SQUAD BEHIND HER
In front of guests including guests including Oprah Winfrey, Elton John, George and Amal Clooney, Victoria and David Beckham and Serena Williams, the pair took part in an hour-long ceremony that took ancient royal traditions and turned them on their heads.

They then embarked on a carriage-ride through the streets of Windsor, travelling in an open-topped carriage drawn by four grey horses, accompanied by trumpet fanfares and soldiers on horseback.

The singer James Blunt and actor Idris Elba were there, as was Ms Markle’s close group of friends Jessica Mulroney, Markus Anderson and Misha Nonoo and Lindsay Jordan.

Pippa Matthews, the sister of Meghan’s new sister-in-law Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge, arrived with her family, and two of Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriends, Chelsea Davy and Cressida Bonas, were in the congregation, as was his former nanny, Tiggy Pettifer (formerly Legge-Bourke).

Meghan’s friends from the TV show Suits including her on-screen love Patrick J Adams were also there.

BIZARRE PREACHER FIRES UP
American Episcopal Church preacher the Most Reverend Michael Curry gave a fired-up reading with ad-libbed flourishes, commenting “two young people fell in love and we all showed up,’’ as Meghan and Harry sat holding hands.

Prince Harry, who like his brother and best man Prince William was wearing the frockcoat uniform of the Blues and Royals, laughed as Reverend Curry interrupted himself to say “we’ve got to get y’all married!’’

All senior members of the royal family — the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and Princess Anne, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie — were in the chapel and some of the TV cutaways catching surprised looks on royal faces, including the Queen’s granddaughter, Zara Tindall, were priceless.

The marriage, between the sixth-in-line to the throne and a divorced American actor, took place on a beautiful spring day and was a fun, joyous event with barely a hint of royal stuffiness.

The only direct member of Ms Markle’s family in church was her mother, Doria Ragland, fought back tears as the pair exchanged vows. In another departure from tradition, she travelled with her daughter, the first woman of colour to marry into the British royal family, to the church.

MEGHAN’S BRIDAL PARTY
Ms Markle arrived with a small army of flowergirls and pageboys, which included Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, 3, her new nephew and niece.

While she may have had a showstopping dress, the children who followed her down the aisle stole the limelight.

The adorable flower girls and pageboys who trailed behind Meghan melted hearts as they could not contain their excitement at their big moment.

They were incredibly well-behaved and looked after not only each other, but Meghan’s grand veil as well.

Seven-year-old twins Brian and John Mulroney dutifully carried Meghan’s four metre Givenchy veil, shrieking with excitement when the trumpet fanfare broke out — their unabashed joy the picture of the wedding.

The rest of the party was made up of flower girls Remi and Rylan Litt, six and seven, Rylan charmingly wiping her eyes and possibly her nose with the back of her hand in church; Princess Charlotte, three, whose perfect royal wave was immediately turned into a GIF, Florence van Cutsem, three, Ivy Mulroney, four and two-year-old Zalie Warren, who kept looking for her mum.

The other pageboys were Jasper Dyer, six and Prince George, four.

Despite risking having a tiny two-year-old in the bridal party with no maid of honour to corral them, the older girls and boys charmingly looked after the younger ones, who were all on their best behaviour.

The only other children in attendance at the ceremony were Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex’s children, Lady Louise Windsor, 14 and her brother James, Viscount Severn, 10, who are both renowned for being impeccably behaved and who sat quietly in the chapel throughout the service. Prince Harry — the king of kids — made time to giggle and wave at James before the ceremony started.

Sadly there was no sign of Mia Tindall in the church — Zara and Mike Tindall’s feisty four year old, who is always getting up to mischief.

The bridal party was refreshingly made up of the children of both Meghan and Harry’s close friends, rather than members of the aristocracy, in the same egalitarian way they selected the guest list for the wedding itself.

A new generation of pageboys and bridesmaids for a new generation of royals.

THEIR WEDDING VOWS
Harry presented Meghan with a wedding ring made by the royal warrant holders Cleave and Company, fashioned from a piece of Welsh gold gifted by the Queen.

Prince Harry will wear a platinum wedding band with a textured finish.

Windsor, a small town built around the 1000-year-old Windsor Castle, was crammed with more than 100,000 people who poured into town on trains, in cars and on boats along the River Thames, many of them dressed for a wedding wearing hats, fascinators — and even ermine capes.

Prince Charles stepped in at the last minute after Ms Markle’s father, the reclusive 73-year-old Thomas Markle, suddenly withdrew, suffering heart problems after being busted collaborating with the paparazzi.

The drama of Ms Markle’s family dysfunction was forgotten as people from across the world turned out to see the stunning actor, the first divorced American to walk down the aisle with a British royal since King Edward VIII abdicated to marry Wallis Simpson in 1936.

Meghan sang the words to the national anthem — God Save the Queen — without missing a note as the pair left the chapel.

The pair took their vows before the Archbishop of Canterbuy, Justin Welby, pledging to love, honour and protect each other as long as they did live.

Hours before the service, Queen Elizabeth had bestowed the title of the Duke of Sussex on Prince Harry, meaning he will now be known as His Royal Highness the Duke of Sussex. His other titles will be Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel.

Ms Markle becomes Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex.

St George’s Chapel was decorated with glorious sprays of spring blooms which infused the air with perfume — white garden roses, peonies and foxgloves were entwined with beech, birch and hornbeam leaves, surrounding the West Door and lining the steps to the medieval chapel.

Guests included the Earl Spencer, the brother of Prince Harry’s late mother Princess Diana, and Prince Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, who sat on the left-hand side of the church reserved for non-royalty.

THE CARRIAGE RIDE
They cemented their place in the hearts of the British public with their carriage ride through Windsor yesterday which reduced fans to tears.

Thousands of people lining the streets of Windsor laughed, cried and reached for their camera phones as the couple drove through the historic town on a horse drawn carriage.

Harry seemed to be relishing his new role as husband gently helping Meghan step on and off the carriage.

The newlyweds embarked on their ride after sharing a sweet kiss on the steps of St George’s chapel.

The pair couldn’t have looked more in love as they held hands and exchanged smiles and secret whispers.

Meghan showed she already has the famous royal wave down pat as she graciously greeted the public.

Best friends Trachelle Borg, 46, and Ange Morris, 45, who are both from Brisbane gave the newlyweds a cheers with glasses of Jacob’s Creek wine as they rode past.

Ms Borg said seeing them in the flesh was an emotional moment.

“I was a big fan of Diana and still have memorabilia from her and Charles wedding,” Ms Borg told News Corp.

“I think Harry is a great man and he’s done his mum and all of us here proud.”

“I’ve got a few tears in my eyes.”

The carriage ride lasted about 25 minutes with the pair riding in an Ascot Landau- the same carriage Harry rode in during William’s 2011 wedding.

It was pulled by four Windsor Grey horses.

Following the carriage was 24 mounted soldiers from the Houselhod Cavalry- Prince Harry’s former regiment.

Among the crowd screams were deafening with hundreds of fans attempting to run through the streets and follow the couple along their ride.

Parents lifted children up on shoulders and others hung out of windows of surrounding houses and shops in order to try and get the best views.

Around the iron gates next to the Long Walk, where Harry and Meghan finished their journey, others climbed onto the surrounding fences to try and peek a final glimpse of the couple.
