Thync

For those who have a hard time tuning it all out and relax, there's a new gadget that may can help.

Thync, which specializes in neurostimulation wearable devices, is launching the Thync Relax Pro. The Relax Pro — Thync's second-generation device — aims to relieve stress and "encourage restful sleep and relaxation."

It works by sticking to the back of your neck and delivering stress relief through "gentle nerve stimulation."

Here's how it works.

You'll need to download an app to make the device work. Within the app, you can choose between two modes: Thync Deep Relax and Thync Deep Sleep. Thync's first device was focused more on calming and energizing, but the new device hones in on poor sleep caused by stress.

By using the Deep Sleep setting before bed, Thync promises, you'll reach a "drowsy and peaceful state." The Deep Relax setting is intended to release stress and improve your mood.
The device works by sticking to your neck via a pad with electrodes on it.

The company says those electrodes use "safe, low-level electrical pulses" to stimulate the nerves in your neck that connect to regions of your brain controlling sleep quality, mood, and stress.
Thync has spent four years working on the technology, performing clinical research on the technology and studying users.

...but Thync isn't meant to treat medical conditions, so use it wisely. Those who have pacemakers, are pregnant, or have a history of seizures shouldn't use it at all.
You may not see results right away, and Thync recommends using the device regularly for four to six weeks to see lasting results.
Thync Relax Pro is compatible with iOS and Android devices. The entire system costs $29 per month, plus $149 upfront for the pod. The subscription includes packs of Thync pads and the two neurostimulation programs.
